Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in African language, applied linguistics, foreign language education or related field. Native or near-native competence in Swahili and one other African language is required. Teaching experience in the United States is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
Teach Swahili and supervise TAs using modern classroom methods; develop materials; conduct research in African languages, applied linguistics, and linguistics; future possibility of supervising graduate students learning Asian and African languages using self-instructional methods as developed by the National Association of Self-Instructional Language Programs (NASILP)
