Researchers working on AIDS-related projects are also given priority, regardless of the discipline. Candidates must be Ivoirian citizens; have a minimum of three years experience as a professor or researcher and have published articles or books in their field. Candidates’ research in the U.S. must also directly link to their teaching and/or research responsibilities in Cote d’Ivoire.

This JSD program, which lasts for two years, targets young professionals and graduate students who wish to earn a master degree (Doctorat de 3ème cycle) or a Ph.D. (Doctorat d’Etat) in the United States. Candidates must be Ivorian citizens with an outstanding academic record and a high level of English proficiency (a minimum TOEFL score of 580 and a minimum GRE/GMAT score of 1000). They must hold at least a D.E.A. or equivalent; be well prepared to study for an advanced degree in their current field or a related field; be committed to working in Cote d’Ivoire upon completion of their U.S. studies and have the endorsement of their home institution. Preference is given to candidates who have not studied in the U.S.
