Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in applicable discipline (e.g., community /public health education). Must be CHES certified. Evidence of successful college/university teaching. Commitment to active learning and use of technology in the learning process with distance learning and online delivery preferred. Ability to engage in research with potential for successful extramural funding especially in African health issues. Strong and clear evidence of research and scholarly activity accomplishment in area related to Community/Public Health Education in Africa. Commitment to quality undergraduate and graduate education. Commitment to diversity. Involvement in professional organizations.
Responsibilities:
This is an academic year appointment with potential for additional summer teaching, plus university benefits including tuition for self and family, a comprehensive insurance package (prescription plan, vision benefits, dental plan, life insurance), relocation assistance, and an excellent retirement plan. It is a nine-month tenure track position at the associate/full professor rank that reports to the School Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in community health with a particular emphasis on African community health issues. The candidate will provide national leadership in the area of African health studies, advise community health students, assist in placement and supervision of interns, conduct research studies and secure internal and external funding on African health issues, and serve on school, college, and university committees. Teaching and research interests should be in one or more of the following: community health education strategies, HIV/AIDS and STDs, program planning, implementation and evaluation, and public health concepts. There is potential for joint appointment with other academic units on campus.
